Summary: Tunnel construction is a business segment which is more strongly affected by continuous innovation. Constantly increasing project requirements are repeatedly demanding that new technical solutions are found and implemented, not only in design and construction but also in driving and control technology.
This lecture examines various developments
• Using ATDS to monitor subsidence caused by tunneling,
• Simplifications in shield tunneling using flying start-up construction,
• Reducing tool wear through using innovative new materials,
• Simplifications in creating cross headings through integrated bracing system and
• Optimized tunnel construction systems.
Amongst others things, experiences in implementing these developments will be explained, in particular Cologne's North-South urban railway, North contract section, the new Schlüchterner Tunnel, Moosach Main Railway Station with sections (Munich), Tunnel for Jenbach/Wiesing Main Railway Station (Austria) and Copenhagen's district heating tunnel.
