Summary: Measuring 2,966 m in length the Grouft tunnel in the centre of Luxembourg, in the county district of Lorentzweiler, is the longest structure along the Route du Nord. In the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg the tunnel connects the capital city with the towns of Mersch, Colmar-Berg and Ettelbruck in the north, and is aimed to relieve the city of Luxembourg of through traffic in this direction, on the one hand, and on the other hand, it is to further open up the economic regions in the north.
