Summary: The IKT – Institut für Unterirdische Infrastruktur [Institute for Underground Infrastructure] – in Gelsenkirchen has conducted several research projects to test established methods, as well as more recent ones, for surveying and assessing the pipe-soil system and has evaluated them in terms of their informative value and their suitability for practical applications. This article provides a summary of the major findings.
