Summary: When referring to excavation support systems with soldier pile retaining walls many construction experts will think of the Berlin-type retaining wall. But not every soldier pile wall is designed in the same way as the Berlin-type wall. The article presents a special soldier pile and lagging construction method in which the lagging is fixed to the front face of the soldier piles using timber wedge clamps. The implemented type of soldier pile wall with timber wedge clamps provides a flexible shoring system that enables the lining of larger trenches and excavations of medium depth, above groundwater level, in an efficient and reliable manner, especially in urban areas with existing cable and pipe systems in the ground.
