AN EXPORT-ORIENTED ECONOMY NEEDS A HIGH-CAPACITY TRANSPORT INFRASTRUCTURE

Primary publication: TIEFBAU March 2009

Summary:
Competent and efficient support in the construction of reinforced concrete structures required for transport infrastructure projects is guaranteed by the formwork industry. The formwork manufacturers sell and hire out on a project-related basis formwork systems and falsework of different designs, that are all tested and consistently improved. The know-how and experience of the engineers in this sector concerning the correct use of this equipment is also of great value. Different construction methods are employed to build bridges, trough structures, underpasses, tunnels (especially using the cut-and cover technique) and multi-storey car parks, and these also require different types of formwork and shoring systems. For economic reasons the individual components are frequently taken from a module system developed by the manufacturers, that ensures a varied and reliable use.
